Editorial Review

The Roomba 105 Vac is the plainest entry point into iRobot's current lineup: real ClearView LiDAR mapping (a step up from the bump-and-run navigation of very old Roombas) but no auto-empty dock, no mopping, and no camera-based obstacle recognition. It's a vacuum in the most literal sense.

iRobot's "70X more suction" claim is stated relative to its own older 600-series Roombas, not an absolute Pa figure, so it isn't directly comparable to the Pa numbers Roborock, Dreame or Ecovacs publish — worth knowing if you're cross-shopping by suction spec.

For a single-level home or apartment where daily manual emptying isn't a hassle, this is the cheapest reliable way into the Roomba ecosystem and its app.

Pros

  • Real LiDAR mapping at an entry price point
  • Stores up to 3 floor maps
  • Works with Alexa, Siri and Google Assistant
  • Lightest robot in this lineup at 6.24 lbs

Cons

  • No auto-empty dock at this configuration
  • No mopping
  • No published Pa suction figure or per-charge runtime

Best for: Buyers who want a dependable, no-frills LiDAR-mapped Roomba and don't mind emptying the bin by hand.

Who should skip it: Anyone who wants a self-emptying base — see the 105 Vac + AutoEmpty Dock instead.
